Water consumption

Reduction in waste water and fresh water consumption using the Mertingen site as an example

With the quantities of milk being processed annually constantly increasing, the waste water generated has, despite the increasing diversity of production processes (small production batches, more cleaning cycles) been kept to a moderate increase.

Lately, the trend curve for fresh water use has increased. This is based on the fact that the production cycles are increasingly requiring intermediate rinses in order to do justice to the current laws (e.g. LMIV).

The key figures for fresh water consumption and the waste water generated per kilogram of processed milk is subject to constant monitoring with reference to the German milk economy. The relevant figures are positive for the very wide-ranging product portfolio at the Mertingen site.
